Innova Boss Distance Driver Disc

What is the Innova Boss?
The Innova Boss is an overstable distance driver introduced in 2008 that was designed to get you maximum distance. As the world's first 13 speed, this disc unleashes your distance potential and allows you to release on a multitude of angles for massive drives.
Who Is the Boss For?
This disc is designed for mid to advanced arm speeds to extend their distance. The mild -1 turn rating gives this disc just the right amount of turn for a high speed driver, but keeps it resistant to flipping over at high speeds with reliable fade at the end of the flight. This means all but the most powerful players can torque into their drives at full power and trust the Boss to fight back for a full flight. With a speed of 13, this disc gets up to speed in a hurry and pushes you deep down the fairway. Massive panning flex shots and laser lines with dependable fade are the Boss' signature lines.
Trust this disc for both backhands and forehands for bombing your disc waaay down the fairway!
What Makes The Boss Popular?
Back in 2016, David Wiggins Jr. absolutely launched this disc to an eye-watering 1,108 feet, shattering the world distance record. This throw wasn’t a fluke, either. The Boss has held multiple distance records and has long been the go-to for players wanting to reach new personal bests.
Boss Flight Numbers & Specs
- 13 Speed: The Boss was released in 2008 as the world's first 13 speed. This means that it gets down the fairway in a hurry to deliver effortless distance to extend your drives WAY out there. A higher speed means a wider rim so look for the Boss to have a beefy feel in your hand.
- 5 Glide: See ya! This is the legendary glide rating for the best flying discs in the Innova lineup including the Destroyer and Wraith. The Boss will glide effortlessly down the fairway while giving you controllable distance.
- -1 High Speed Turn: This turn rating allows for big arms to get high speed turn and to shape shots. Flat releases will turn into a touch of anhyzer before the end of flight fade kicks in. Anny releases will see the disc turn deep into its flight before flattening out.
- 3 Low Speed Fade: This dependable fade ratings matches that of the Destroyer. Trust that the Boss will fight out of nearly all angles to give you consistent end of flight fade. Trust that you can throw bombing anhyzers that will pan out to absolute crushes. This is where the Boss excels!
- Diameter: 21.2 cm
- Rim Width: 2.5 cm
How Does the Boss Fly?
World distance record holder in the house!! This disc has massive glide and distance potential. Bigger arms can release this disc on an anhyzer angle and trust it to unfurl for maximum distance. Headwinds will make this a straighter driver while still giving you dependable fade. Head inds will make it a touch more understable with more high speed turn before fade kicks in.
The ideal throwing conditions are calm or with a slight tail wind. This gives you maximum potential for bombing drives from both sides of the disc. To get the most distance make sure to release the Boss with the wing up and the nose down for massive flex lines. Make sure to put maximum power into your throws or the Boss will turn into an overstable beefcake!
How Does the Boss Compare?
Boss vs Destroyer ( 12 / 5 / -1 / 3 )
Want a faster Destroyer? Try the Boss! Check out those flight numbers and see that the Boss will perform similarly to the Destroyer with a touch more speed. Larger hands will enjoy the feel of the Boss as the diameter is a bit wider than the Destroyer.
Boss vs Wraith ( 11 / 5 / -1 / 3 )
Think of the Wraith as a slower Boss with similar dependability. The Wraith is better as a max distance driver for slower arm speeds as the rim diameter is smaller than the Boss. Look for both discs to perform similarly throughout the flight with predictable fade at the end of the flight. The Boss will get down the fairway quicker and give more advanced players more distance than the Wraith.
Boss vs Shryke ( 13 / 6 / -2 / 2 )
The Boss is the more overstable big brother to the Shryke. Slower arm speeds will enjoy the Shryke drawing out distance due to huge glide, high speed turn and less fade. Bigger arms can employ hyzer flips with the Shryke while newer players can turn to the Shryke to extend distance. Both of these drivers in the Innova lineup are speed 13 and will have a similar feel in hand.
