More about the player: With her textbook forehand and backhand form, Jessica Weese has one of the most balanced throwing games, well, in the game. Formerly a sidearm specialist, Weese has worked the last several years to better balance her driving game. Partly from injuries and partly from necessity, her backhand drive has emerged as a clutch weapon in her arsenal. Well versed in touring life, Weese has been playing full time since 2013. Some of her biggest credits include winning the 2018 DGPT Ledgestone Open and the 2015 PDGA NT Beaver State Fling. Not long ago, at the 2023 Chain Hawk Open – both she and her husband, Garrett Gurthie won their respective divsions. You get the feeling with Weese, that she could collect her next big win at any point. How this batch of Halo Star Destroyer feel: Noticeable dome typical of mold. Gobs of grip. More about the player: No matter the tournament, Calvin Heimburg is likely a favorite to win. Why? Because he has the complete game including big, accurate distance. Though he has yet to win his first major, Heimburg has owned the DGPT, winning 13 events including the Dynamic Discs Open and OTB Open last year. In 2023, he won the Ken Climo Player of the Year award. Plus, you can’t forget the DGPT Match Play Championship he took in 2021. More about the disc: If you’ve got plenty of power, it’s time you graduated to the Innova Destroyer.   3. With her pure form and dialed-in accuracy Henna Blomroos is a distance specialist. Unlock your inner-bomber with her Proto Glow Halo Star Destroyer. How this batch of Proto Glow Halo Star Destroyer feel: Noticeable dome typical of mold. Softer feel. More about the player: Henna Blomroos is the silky smooth distance crusher from Finland. She’s so consistent it’s strange to see a tournament leaderboard without her near the top. A top Finnish pro since 2014, she made her first jump to U.S. events in 2019 with a 4th place finish at PDGA Pro Worlds and 3rd at the DGPT Jonesboro Open. Blomroos is the 2X European Disc Golf Champ and 2018 RE/MAX Open Champ. Most recently she tied for 2nd at the 2024 PDGA Champions Cup and claimed 2nd at the 2022 PDGA Pro Worlds.   4. Versatile, stable, straight – the Ohn Scoggins Proto Glow Halo Star Leopard3 is great at simplifying complex shots. How this batch of Proto Glow Halo Star Leopard3 feel: Minimal to modest dome. Substantial grip. A tad more stiff than stock Halo Leopard3’s. More about the player: Ohn Scoggins is arguably the best 40+ woman in the game today. She is currently riding a streak of 4 PDGA Masters World Championships in a row. That said, she’s still very dangerous on the FPO side, too, winning several Disc Golf Pro Tour events the last few years. Though she may not be the longest bomber on the tour, she makes up for it and then some with her accurate drives and first rate putting. She has a fearless style that makes pressure putts look routine. With her fun, bubbly personality she’s a fan favorite on and off the course. More about the disc: The Leopard3 disc is flatter and faster than the Leopard we all know but still inherits the Leopard's knack for control.   5. Kat Mertsch’s Halo Star Stingray will be your understable answer when times call for automatic turnovers and glidey approaches. Usually only available in DX plastic, now’s the time to grab it in premium plastic.   How this batch of Halo Star Stingray feel: Noticeable dome. Softer Halo Star plastic. More about the player: Watching Kat Mertsch play, you can tell she lays it all on the course. That dedication has made her into one of the top ladies on tour. In 2023 she snagged her biggest win at the DGPT Jonesboro Open. But her play during last year’s Worlds (2nd) and European Open (5th) also deserves mention. With all that she puts into her play, you can tell that she’s got a lot more in store. More about the disc: The Stingray is the classic understable mid range that seems to never go out of style. It’s turning ease makes anhyzers, hyzer flips, and even rollers incredibly easy. New players love because it can provide straighter, longer flights when other discs crash too soon.   6. If you’re gonna go deep, best go with a disc that’s endorsed by one of the longest throwers in the game. The Garrett Gurthie Halo Star Wraith is the distance thrower’s distance driver. How this batch of Halo Star Wraith feel: Noticeable dome typical of the mold. Very grippy. More about the player: Seeing Garrett Gurthie unload upon a drive you’re hit with a realization: “So that’s how you throw far!” Gurthie, who has been a staple on the Tour for 20 years (give or take a year or two when he stayed closer to his Florida home), can truly crush a disc. Though he’s won numerous distance titles, Gurthie still has the complete game. Big wins include the National Tour 2019 Santa Cruz Masters Cup, 2022 DGPT Silver Series Beaver State Fling, and the 2020 DGPT Silver Series Maine State Championships. More about the disc: The Innova Wraith is a long, stable to overstable distance driver. Released in 2005, the Wraith has not diminished in popularity. If anything, it has gotten more popular since it is so useful to so many skill levels. A real fan favorite, you’ll find a Wraith thrower at every course.   7. The Philo Brathwaite Star Destroyer routinely turns unlikely shots into your personal web gems. How this batch of Star Destroyers feel: Noticeable dome. More about the player: Nowadays most know Philo Brathwaite for his  fun and engaging commentary for pro tour coverage. Though Brathwaite has slowed down his competitive play the last few years, he has shown he can still hang with the best like when he won the US Masters in 2023. And, you can’t mention Brathwaite without mentioning his Albatross at the 2016 Beaver State Fling (Thrown with a Destroyer). He amazingly finished the 850-foot par 5 in only 2 throws. And, it was caught on tape during Central Coast Disc Golf’s coverage.  More about the disc: The Destroyer is a very fast, very overstable distance driver meant for advanced players. Thrown with the proper amount of power, the Destroyer disc flies straight followed by a slight turn for incredible distance until its mighty fade brings it back to the ground.   8. You may not be able to throw as far as Jennifer Allen but you can share her control and accuracy with her Proto Glow Champion TeeBird. How this batch of Proto Glow Champion TeeBirds feel: Minimal to modest dome. Softer glow feel. Pink discs are a tad stiffer. More about the player: Jennifer Allen is one of the most powerful throwers on the tour. She made it plain for everyone to see in 2016 when she broke the women’s distance record with a 569 foot throw. A fan favorite for her 12+ years on tour, Allen has really shined in the masters division winning the US Masters in 2021 and winning the women’s masters division in the 2022 and 2023 USWDGC. In 2023, she also showed she can still hang with the youngsters after winning the DGPT Beaver State Fling, complete with an ace on Hole 1. More about the disc: The TeeBird is perhaps the most reliable fairway driver for open to moderately wooded courses on the market. It has the perfect amount of stability to hold your line, even in mild winds. Excellent for pin-point accuracy and sidearm. TeeBird Flight Numbers: 7 / 5 / 0 / 2

  9. Gregg Barsby throws his Eagles for just about anything. His Innova Proto Glow Champion Eagle is just as versatile. Give it a ride. It’ll stay with you for a long time.  How this batch of Proto Glow Champion Eagle feel: Moderate dome. Softer Glow plastic feel. More about the player: Gregg Barsby’s biggest win came at the 2018 World Championships. But he might be just as well known for his entertaining play and infectious personality. It’s not uncommon for the popular player to strike up conversations with fans after rounds. A veteran of the pro scene for more than 20 years, Barsby has a number of other wins and feats including the unforgettable roller ace at the Masters Cup in 2009. More about the disc: The Eagle X is the original, professional level overstable fairway driver. Great option for power players looking to carve smooth lines forehand or backhand with steady fade.   10. The Juliana Korver Proto Glow Halo Star Mamba is super consistent and will stay in top form for a very long time – just like the Disc Golf Hall of Famer herself. Notice: Halo effect will vary. How this batch of Proto Glow Halo Star Mamba feel: Noticeable dome. More about the player: From the late 1990’s to early 2000’s, Juliana Korver was THE woman to beat, winning 5 World Championships. Decades later she’s still a force in professional disc golf and she still largely competes in the Women’s Open division. Only a few years ago she tied for 3rd at the DGPT Portland Open in 2023. More about the player: Kona Montgomery is back on Team Innova and she’s ready to make an immediate impact on the Pro Tour. Not only is Montgomery, who won the 2021 Waco Charity Open, an annual contender on the course she’s also a major disc golf social media influencer.   More about the disc: This stable to understable large diameter mid range has a slow and steady speed and hugs the line you lay it on, especially when it’s a straight one.   12. Get the control and consistency you crave with Joona Heinänen's Innova Star Roc3. It turns uncertain medium range throws to automatic. How this batch of Roc3 feels: Pretty flat to Modest dome. Softer feel. More about the player: Finnish long bomber, Joona Heinänen is a name you should remember. The last few years he’s divided his season between U.S. and European tour stops and its paid dividends with a win at the 2024 Järva Open X Tyyni, a DGPT Silver event, and a seventh place finish at last year’s USDGC. Look for him to make an even bigger impact in the coming years. More about the disc: The Roc3 is an overstable large diameter mid range that’s a good call in just about any situation. It can hold your line even in headwinds and has enough fade to land where desired. Compared to the Roc, it has a touch more speed and overstability. Flight Numbers: 5 / 4 / 0 / 3
