Get the birdie party stared right with Kevin Jones’ Innova Luster Champion Max. This disc really knows how to lay a beat … down. How this batch of Luster Max feels: Minimal dome. Handy Luster grip. More about the player: Already a well known name on tour, Jones joined Team Innova midway through the 2024 season, bringing his podium experience and clutch play. Last year, he had a top five finish at the Ledgestone, but he’s probably best known for his 2020 DGPT Championship win. Off the course, he Rocs the house with his DJ skills (hence the stereo themed stamp). More about the disc: With a fade of 5 (the most for an Innova disc) and a minimal glide of 3, the Star Max is the closest you can come to throwing a PDGA approved cinder block. One of our most versatile discs for backhand and forehand shots, the Thunderbird is a must have. The Thunderbird is speed 9 driver with controllable, accurate flights. It has the stability of a TeeBird with the speed of a Valkyrie.

Grip like no other and super flexible, the Innova Soft Pro Toro is a delight to hold and throw. How it feels: A beadless and small diameter disc, the Toro, has the low profile and comfortable feel of a Rat. However, the rim of the Toro is much beefier. Most are pretty flat. Innova Toro Flight numbers:  4 / 2 / 1 / 3 How the Toro flies: The Toro was built to handle anything you put on it for short to medium length backhand or forehand shots. “Massive torque resistance,” is how Innova co-founder and disc inventor Dave Dunipace describes the Toro’s flight, which in layman’s terms means it’s an ox of a disc. Soft Pro plastic: This plastic is so flexy and gummy is Gumby is jealous (remember him?). Best in terms of grip for all Innova plastics, but among our least durable plastics. Ideal for cold and wet rounds. Grabs chains better too. The Toro is great for: Brute force medium length forehand and backhand drives and approaches. Headwind shots without a second thought. Slow-panning anhyzers. How will I throw it?: Beginners: We don’t recommend this disc for newer players. Intermediate players will see fairly straight mid length shots followed by heavy fade. They should stick to lighter weights unless they’ve already got a cannon for an arm. Advanced players have the green light to put everything they have on this disc and still count on a strong fade finish.

The InnMold DX Aviar supplies the same trusted putt and approach flight the world has grown accustomed to, but now with a vibrant color design on top. How the Aviar feels: In the hand, the Aviar has a rounded, comfortable rim that leaves plenty of room for your fingers no matter which way you grip it. DX Aviar Flight numbers:  2 / 3 / 0 / 1 How it flies: When the Aviar is thrown at slow speed for putting, it holds the line you put it on with neutral stability. When utilized as a throwing putter the Aviar has surprising torque resistance. When it was released in 1984, it was the first disc designed specifically for putting! 40 years later, it’s still the disc the world turns to for sure-fire lines to the basket. Signature feature has to be the nose’s outer bead. Disc ranges from minimal to noticeable dome. GStar Racer Flight numbers: 12 / 6 / -1 / 2 How it flies: ‘Seasoned Destroyer’ is something you hear a bunch when it comes to the Racer. After a flat release, watch it speed down the fairway. But instead of it fading hard like a Destroyer, the Racer stays pretty straight, especially for average arms. Eventually the fade kicks in, but not before it’s sailed a long way. Another term you hear a lot with the Racer is glide. This disc just doesn’t want to come back to the ground. Forehand: Give it a shot. Flat release results in a modest turnover flight that finds fade at the end. A moderate hyzer release produces hzyer flip flight. GStar plastic: GStar plastic provides the most grip and flexibility from a premium Innova plastic. Great choice for cold or wet weather rounds. Discs in GStar plastic are typically more understable than their Star our Champion cousins. The Racer is great for: When you want Destroyer performance, but without Destroyer beef. When you need that 10 extra feet of glide Predictable distance and fade Long hyzers How will I throw it? In lighter weights, beginners and intermediate players can see some real dividends, especially in the less overstable GStar plastic. Intermediates will experience straight, long flights. Advanced level players will be able to make the big ‘S’ flight and hzyer flips look routine, but may overpower it on occasion.
