The Philo Brathwaite Star Destroyer routinely turns unlikely shots into your personal web gems. How this batch of Star Destroyers feel: Noticeable dome. Though Brathwaite has slowed down his competitive play the last few years, he has shown he can still hang with the best like when he won the US Masters in 2023. And, you can’t mention Brathwaite without mentioning his Albatross at the 2016 Beaver State Fling (Thrown with a Destroyer). He amazingly finished the 850-foot par 5 in only 2 throws. And, it was caught on tape during Central Coast Disc Golf’s coverage.  More about the disc: The Destroyer is a very fast, very overstable distance driver meant for advanced players. Thrown with the proper amount of power, the Destroyer disc flies straight followed by a slight turn for incredible distance until its mighty fade brings it back to the ground. It’s like a less aggressive Caiman, but with a jumbo-sized bead on the rim bottom. The Colt is a low profile small diameter putt and approach disc similar to our XD or Classic Roc. It is a fairly straight flyer, that can also perform well for slow turnover shots that don't come crashing back.   The Colt is a VTech design, which provides extra torque resistance making it suitable for sidearm and windy play.

The Innova GStar Racer is the distance driver with mega speed and glide that flies like a broken in Destroyer. How the GStar Racer feels: Wider rim, similar in size to the Tern. Signature feature has to be the nose’s outer bead. Disc ranges from minimal to noticeable dome. GStar Racer Flight numbers: 12 / 6 / -1 / 2 How it flies: ‘Seasoned Destroyer’ is something you hear a bunch when it comes to the Racer. After a flat release, watch it speed down the fairway. But instead of it fading hard like a Destroyer, the Racer stays pretty straight, especially for average arms. Eventually the fade kicks in, but not before it’s sailed a long way. Another term you hear a lot with the Racer is glide. This disc just doesn’t want to come back to the ground. Forehand: Give it a shot. Flat release results in a modest turnover flight that finds fade at the end. A moderate hyzer release produces hzyer flip flight. GStar plastic: GStar plastic provides the most grip and flexibility from a premium Innova plastic. Great choice for cold or wet weather rounds. Discs in GStar plastic are typically more understable than their Star our Champion cousins. The Racer is great for: When you want Destroyer performance, but without Destroyer beef. When you need that 10 extra feet of glide Predictable distance and fade Long hyzers How will I throw it? In lighter weights, beginners and intermediate players can see some real dividends, especially in the less overstable GStar plastic. Intermediates will experience straight, long flights. Advanced level players will be able to make the big ‘S’ flight and hzyer flips look routine, but may overpower it on occasion.

Though not as overstable as Champion, it still has enough bite to handle your full-send heaves. It’s the preferred plastic for drivers. The Racer is great for: When you want Destroyer performance, but without Destroyer beef. When you need that 10 extra feet of glide Predictable distance and fade Long hyzers How will I throw it? In lighter weights, beginners and intermediate players can see some real dividends. Intermediates will experience straight, long flights. The XD has a low profile, thin rim which promotes a secure grip and an easy, natural release. These features combined with straight flight characteristics make the XD an easy to throw and control disc. It is the most driver-like putter we have and is useful for putts, drives and approach shots. Good disc for developing a “touch” around the basket.

The XCaliber is for those who have got to have the biggest and the baddest. Extremely fast with glide and stability. This is the one for confident bombs in windy conditions.
