  1. Greetings earthlings! It’s time to make contact with the Innova Star Alien, the saucer shaped multipurpose disc that’s great for a host of controlled, measured throws that stop precisely. How this large diameter disc feels: The upper half has a Sonic look and feel with its domey top and familiar fastback grooves. The bottom half though, is equipped with a thicker, more modern-day mid-range rim.Star Alien Flight numbers: 4 / 2 / 0 / 1How it flies: With a flat release in fair conditions, the Alien flies straight 200-300 feet (depending on arm speed), and then torpedoes down - it's signature move. Once its flight ends, it practically falls off the table.Because of its low carry, Innova Co-Founder and Disc Inventor Dave Dunipace says the Alien is ideal for “Ranging,” meaning it does a better job landing where you aim.Versatile flightShort Drives | Mid Range Hyzer or Anhyzer | Backhand or Forehand approachesMultipurpose: Everyone can find a place for this disc even as a putter because this flying saucer loves to crash land in the chains.Great for:One disc rounds (for shorter courses)Drop and stop throws needed for island holes and other perilous landing areas.Touch anhyzer approaches, where there’s trouble behindFull power anny’s that comeback as faithfully as a Twilight Zone rerunsShort forehand approachesHow will I throw it? Experienced players with substantial power will enjoy manipulating the Alien for everything from short drives to baby approaches. Those with less arm speed may be surprised at the disc’s overstable finish, but after some practice this disc will get lots of round reps.

  2. You don’t have to be a beast to throw the Innova Animal accurately. Just grab a hold of the meaty rim complete with Thumtrac® grip and let er’ rip. No need to be frightened. This Animal is Gentle: You’ll be surprised how easy this putt and approach disc is to tame. Likened to a beat-in Rhyno, the Animal can achieve a straight flight with a mild hyzer release and exhibits a moderate turn when thrown flat. Big turnovers are a lot of fun with this disc and is one of the Animal’s specialties. Like many land animals, this one favors the ground. And with very little glide, it seems to gravitate towards the earth as soon as its released. Great for: 200–300-foot approaches that dependably dump at the flight’s end. Those interested in a more user-friendly version of the overstable Rhyno. Windy day putter and putts inside the circle.

  3. Directions to the green are straight forward with the Innova Star Atlas, the easy to handle mid range with tons of grip and utility. How the Star Atlas disc feels: In the hand, it has a thin, shallow rim that’s packed with a lot of grip. Flight plate is modestly firm (less firm than the Champion or XT editions. Dome ranges from modest to noticeable. Star Atlas Flight Numbers: 5 / 4 / 0 / 1 How the Atlas flies: The Atlas is a neutral flying large diameter mid range disc that’s easy to learn and even easier to fall in love with. Practically any line is within reach of this disc, provided the wind isn’t too severe. The Atlas benefits aren’t limited to the sky either. Its overmold design allows for a flat landing in most cases, which limits harsh skips off the fairway. After tree hits, the length of deflections are also minimized. More about Star Overmold: With Innova’s overmold, which marries two separate plastic pieces together, you never have to choose between grip and performance. In the case of the Star Atlas, a grippy Star plastic rim is combined with a separate Star flight plate. The Atlas features four 'compass points' located on the underside of the disc, which are used for rim molding. There’s no need to question the disc's durability because the two materials are welded together. The Star Atlas flies slightly more understable than the Champion edition. Great for: Straight medium length drives and approaches Touch hyzer and anhyzer forehands Immediate hyzer flips One-disc rounds. How will I throw it?: Beginner to intermediate players will see straight flights with a moderate fade at flight’s end, especially in lighter weights. Lots of versatility available here as well. Advanced players will experience straight to turnover flights from the get-go, but may overpower the disc on occasion.

  4. The Innova AviarX3 is the most overstable disc in the Aviar family tree and it’s the go-to approach disc for power player and forehand specialist Jeremy “Big Jerm” Koling. More about the AviarX3 in Big Jerm’s Words: “The AviarX3 is the disc I rely upon most in my bag. I use it for essentially every forehand and backhand approach inside 300 feet,” said Koling. He also says it’s great for: Out-of-position rescue shots Point and shoot flick rollers Stable flexing anhyzers Ultra-long panning overhead throws Disc Feel: “The flat flight plate provides a nice hand feel but it also eliminates unnecessary glide. This allows me to be more aggressive with my approaches while ultimately getting more bullseyes,” said Koling. A Mid Range in Putt & Approach Clothing: Don’t forget to use this beefy disc for moderate length drives and for headwind approaches. 2016 US Champ: One word best describes Jeremy Koling’s performance during the 2016 USDGC and that is: “Solid.” Solid putting Solid accuracy off the tee Solid mental game that minimized mistakes With a bullet proof performance like that, it’s no wonder Koling earned the biggest win of his career. Being a “major champion is something that I will have for the rest of my life and that means a lot to me,” said Koling after his win.
