USDGC Chris Dickerson Commemorative Roc

Out of Stock

Lucky you! Most years only see one USDGC Roc commemorating a past champion. This year there are two. For the second USDGC Roc Release of 2022, Chris Dickerson, the 2020 US Champ, finally gets his commemorative USDGC Champion Roc and we made it a darn good one.

USDGC Roc Details:

Total Made: 500. Artist: Marm O. Set

What kind of Rocs? All discs are the classic Rancho Mold and include both Champion and Luster Champion plastics. Both plastics have noticeable dome commonly associated with Rancho Rocs.

*All discs are 180 grams.

2 stamp colors: One foil color for: Hole 10’s green and background trees, Dickerson’s name, the OB line and energy ripples. And another foil color for Dickerson himself as well as the thin lines elsewhere.

*Stamp Foil Colors will vary.

So why is Dickerson’s disc late? In 2021, when it was time for Dickerson’s commemorative USDGC Roc, we were not permitted to do so due to sponsorship constraints. Now that he's switched sponsors, we’ve been given the green light to produce this disc retroactively.

More about the design:  The overarching goal, artist Marm O. Set said, was to come up with a design that was easily identifiable as Chris Dickerson. When you’re tasked with creating lines that will hot stamp properly, making any image easily identifiable is a tall order, he says. However, as anyone can see, this disc is definitely Chris Dickerson. Marm O. Set even remembered Dickerson’s trademark striped flannel jersey.

Portrait pose: This image is not based on one moment during the Championship, says Marm O. Set. Dickerson’s victory Roc is more of a portrait that Marm O. Set constructed. Here, Dickerson is depicted throwing an approach with his putter to Hole 10’s green.

“It’s a good story telling pose,” said Marm O. Set. “It draws you deeper into the composition.”

A little love for Hole 10: To our knowledge Hole 10 has never been featured on a USDGC Roc. Not known as one of Winthrop’s signature holes, the 549-foot par 4 can still make a big impact on a round good or bad.

Ripple effect: Adding a layer of motion to the illustration are several energy ripple rings that line up nicely with the hole’s OB line. Marm O. Set said it was an aesthetic aid that added a spark of dynamism to the pose.

Better late than never: Watching Dickerson put together his first USDGC victory and first Major win was a case study in classic USDGC grit. Circle two putting with robotic precision, pinpoint drives, and the ability to recalibrate at crucial times even during a final round monsoon all contributed to his victory. Make sure you add this belated commemorative USDGC Roc to your collection.
